The nature of Dominic Harris’s medium allows him to transform wild fantasies into digital realities. In the case of Metamorphosis: Elements, Harris creates butterflies that appear to be made of wood, earth, water, fire and metal, the five elements of the Chinese zodiac. Inspired by the belief that these elements are the matter from which the universe is composed, as has been the view of many cultures in the Far East, Harris compiles these materials in a dynamic arrangement of butterflies to create a unified whole.
